Decatur is a thriving city full of smart, passionate people. It’s a great place to raise a family, run a business, and put down roots. Even so, we still have work to do. Mark is running to help the City of Decatur tackle critical issues.
About Mark






Mark’s professional journey and community involvement are the cornerstones of his candidacy.
He’s running for commissioner based on a history of strong community
engagement, financial expertise, and a desire for progress and service for all.
Mark and his wife Roz have lived in Decatur for more than 25 years. They’re the proud parents of two daughters, Maya Journey (MJ) and Sage, who attended K-12 at City Schools of Decatur. They’ve had countless pups who’ve enjoyed Dog-catur over the years. Mark has been consistently active in the Decatur community through volunteer roles in our schools, citizen-led boards and commissions, and other local organizations, including:
- Legacy Park Board of Directors
- Decatur Charter Review Commission
- Decatur Education Foundation volunteer and supporter
- Decatur MLK Service Project
- School Leadership Team, (formerly) Renfoe Middle School
- Saturday Math Academy volunteer tutor for City Schools of Decatur, founding member

Professionally, Mark is a seasoned executive, entrepreneur, and community advocate with a distinguished career spanning more than 30 years in finance, banking, strategic planning, and data analytics. As Vice President of Data Analytics and Business Intelligence at CRH Americas Materials, the world’s largest building materials company, Mark built and led a transformative data analytics function that drove strategic enterprise initiatives and operational improvements.
He is also the founder of Nuestro Banco, a pioneering community bank in North Carolina, where he developed a groundbreaking business model for a Spanish-language bank approved by the FDIC Southeastern regional office. His entrepreneurial spirit continued with Red Clay Capital Holdings, a successful investment firm focused on lower-middle market opportunities in the Southeast.
Fluent in Spanish and conversational in Portuguese, Mark brings a measured, global perspective shaped by international professional roles and service as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Uruguay. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Brown University and a Master of Management in Finance and Strategy from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
